2014 June Invited speaker community mental health awareness and suicide prevention information evening - focus on mental health. Following tragic death in community ... one of five invited guests (Australian Netball sportswoman, Mayor Wyndham City Council, General Practitioner, RecLink organiser) to give address to sporting community group in Wyndham Vale /to inform/ share/ break down barriers/ stigma attached around mental health.

2013 Invited speaker: Australian Diabetes Society (ADS) and Australian Diabetes Educators Association’s (ADEA) Annual Scientific Meeting, Sydney.

Peter was invited to deliver the Valedictorian Address (pictured above left) at the Victoria University Graduation Ceremony 2012.

 As a registrar, Peter had considerable success with adolescents at the Austin Hospital’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services-CAMHS (Testimonials available on request) (see parent testimonial).

Following the suicide of a secondary college student (2012), Peter debriefed key personnel, supervised wellbeing staff, organised and Chaired the Parent Forum focusing on Positive Mental Health, engaging a national mental health body and a City Council to respond to community concerns focusing on self-harm, suicidality and social media issues (see testimonial).

Peter’s 2012 thesis entitled Investigating Culturally Competent Reflective Practice in Diabetes Healthcare investigated the interface of the western-oriented “voice of medicine” with different cultures and systems of belief. Subsequently Peter proposed a dynamic model for culturally oriented healthcare practice.
